About Marina Nakhla, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Nakhla is a registered psychological associate (PSB94028314) and postdoctoral fellow in clinical neuropsychology and clinical health psychology working under the supervision of Lauren Bennett, Ph.D., ABPP-CN (PSY31041) and Kelly A. Scheneman, Psy.D., (PSY34401). Dr. Nakhla earned her doctorate from the SDSU/UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on neuropsychology. She has trained at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (externship) and UC San Diego (externship) and completed her internship at the VA West Los Angeles Healthcare Center.

 

In addition to her professional work, Dr. Nakhla has actively participated in numerous diversity initiatives across various settings. She has served as a patient ambassador for amputees, been invited as a guest speaker for disability and mental health awareness, and provided mental health resources to the limb loss and Middle Eastern communities. She has blogged for various organizations and been featured on several platforms, including the NIH NIGMS Blog, Mission Unstoppable, and CBC Egypt, for her advocacy efforts. Additionally, she has been recognized as a Disability Champion by the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs.
